Generating energy

The Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant obtain energy from the flow of the Huallaga River to put into operation the two 225 MW generating units, which are located in the main Power House; and that of 6.3 MW, in the Small Hydroelectric Plant (PCH) that is located at the foot of the dam-toe.

Generating energy

The LT L-2150 and L-2151 of 127 km connect the substations (SE) Chaglla (Huánuco) and Paragsha (Pasco) in 220 kV.

The PCH is linked to the SE Piedra Blanca (Huánuco) through a LT of 25 km at 138 kV / 34.5 kV.

Generating energy

Since the commissioning in 2016, the Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant management and its transmission lines have been thriving in line with the production goals and established high standards of quality, care for the environment, and safety.

Production

Energy production is developed through 03 generating units with a total installed power of 456 MW. Two are located inside the Power House and one at the dam-toe foot in the Small Hydroelectric Plant (PCH).

Since our entry into commercial operation, with the start-up of the PCH; until February 2024, the production of the Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant produces 15,338,705 MWh.

Small Hydroelectric Plant

It takes advantage of the discharge of the ecological flow of 3.69 m3 / s, with a fall of 192 m and a power of 6.3 MW. It is implemented with a horizontal axis Francis type turbine.

Installed potency: 6.3 MW

House of machines

Implemented with 02 vertical axis Francis type turbines of 225 MW each.

Total installed power: 450 MW

Operation

The operation is carried out with state-of-the-art equipment and digital technology, which allows the operation of the generating units, substations, and transmission lines to be centralized in the Control Center. This makes the Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant one of the plants with the highest availability and reliability indicators, whose operating strategy highlights the highest standards of quality and care for the environment.

logo

Operation

We supply up to 7% of the electricity consumption of Peruvian homes and industries.

logo

Maintenance

The management and maintenance strategy implemented for the conservation of assets with high-reliability standards reflects the best practices in the industry. We consolidate the processes in a combined and integrated structure: preventive, predictive, analysis by condition, and corrective. Likewise, we are convinced that through continuous improvement we will guarantee high availability indicators.
