Throughout the 2023 school year, we continued to conduct environmental education workshops in 16 primary and secondary educational institutions in the hamlets, towns, and peasant communities within the direct area of influence (AID) of the Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant and its Transmission Lines, in the districts of San Pablo de Pillao, Umari, Molino, and Ambo, which are part of the Huánuco department.
In alignment with the United Nations' environmental goals, we discussed with the children and teachers the negative effects of excessive plastic pollution in our rivers and oceans. Together, we identified actions we can take to reduce plastic consumption.
We also took advantage of environmental dates in the calendar, such as Earth Day and World Environment Day, to raise awareness among children, teachers, and staff about the importance of conserving and protecting the biodiversity around us. This was done through planting native forest and fruit trees.
